"They say good things come to those who wait. Well, I figured that, at age 49, I had waited long enough to have a nicely decorated house. The problem was, I didn't know where or how to begin fixing decades of decorating mistakes. Actually, to call what I had done "decorating" seriously insults anyone who has either professional training or amateur good taste. Rather, I was living in a house where no room flowed smoothly into the next -either in colour or style. Plus, the situation was made even more complicated by the fact that my husband, who travels all over the globe, had collected "treasures" from almost every country he visited. And, he expected each of these treasures to be displayed prominently.

Debbie MacIsaac, of Personally Yours Interiors came to my rescue. Debbie approached what really became a complete "overhaul" of our home in a very logical fashion. We first identified the colour scheme that we wanted to carry through the house, then proceeded with choosing fabrics, rugs, furniture-and its placement, window treatments, paint colours, lighting ,art, and, finally, accent pieces. The process was that Debbie did all the leg-work, then presented me with a selection of great choices! Patience is not my strong suit, but I couldn't be more please with the result. While we have a definite colour scheme throughout the house, in no way is any room a carbon copy of another. Each room has its own distinctive personality - a personality that is a reflection of our own (not Debbie's!). In fact, there were many things (e.g., my husband's treasures, our children's artwork, family memorabilia,gifts from friends) that were "not up for discussion", and Debbie incorporated those items into our newly decorated home with the same diligence as an item chosen from Horchow.

I often tell people that there are two people who have greatly increased the quality of my life: Martha Stewart, for my ever-expanding repertoire of recipes, and Debbie MacIsaac, for my beautifully decorated home. We love sitting down to a delicious meal in our gorgeous dining room, raising a
toast to both of them!"
